Mn promoted Rh/SiO2 catalysts were synthesized by both dry impregnation (DI) and strong electrostatic adsorption (SEA) of the promoter. Reactivity results of the CO hydrogenation reaction showed significant improvement of selectivity to ethanol is achieved when the promoter was added by SEA compared to those promoted catalysts prepared by DI.
