HDO reaction of furfural and guaiacol in a mixture over supported catalysts was observed to elucidate the effects of carbohydrate derivatives on the HDO of aromatic compounds. These results confirmed that the reactivity of guaiacol was suppressed by the presence of furfural in the reaction mixture.
