The Potential of a Continuous Process for the Valorization of Lignin in Aqueous Media Assisted By Heterogeneous Catalysts

The lack of valuable application for lignin is one of the barriers preventing lignocellulosic bioreffineries from being profitable on all streams. A trickle-bed reactor was used to convert lignin into small monomers and oligomers. The addition of other co-solvents ethanol, propanol improved the yields for the monomeric fraction.
