The lack of valuable application for lignin is one of the barriers preventing lignocellulosic bioreffineries from being profitable on all streams. A trickle-bed reactor was used to convert lignin into small monomers and oligomers. The addition of other co-solvents ethanol, propanol improved the yields for the monomeric fraction.
