The addition of iridium to the Ni/MgO.Al2O4 catalyst affects nickel reduction and the activity and selectivity of the catalyst in ethanol reforming, depending on its amount in the solids. The most promising catalyst (Ni/Ir= 50) led to the highest hydrogen yield and to the lowest carbon monoxide and ethane yields.
