The alkali-metal promoters have significantly improved the 1, 3-Butadiene (1,3-BD) selectivity in ethanol conversion over silica supported Zno-ZrO2 catalyst. This improvement in 1,3-BD selectivity is attributed to the poisoning of acidic sites responsible for ethanol dehydration into ethylene.
