C16MIm.Cl Ionic Liquid Templating; A New Route for the Synthesis of Mesoprorous H-ZSM-5 Zeolite with Increased Catalytic Properties

We describe the achievement of hierarchically porous ZSM-5 by using a facile bottom-up approach, which combines zeolite seeds with imidazolium-based ionic liquids. The obtained bimodal ZSM-5 exhibits hexagonal arranged mesopores (3 nm) and shows very high conversions in the acetalization of benzaldehyde with pentaerythritol compared to classically microporous ZSM-5.
