Mechanism of Electrochemical CO2 Reduction to Methane on Metal Electrodes

The mechanism of CO₂ reduction to methane is calculated on transition metal electrodes. It is only when calculating the complete potential energy landscape with all possible activation barriers in between local minima that a consistent picture is observed and the trends between different metals are obtained.
