Electrocatalytically-assisted oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane was conducted in a novel electrochemical reactor. Preliminary experiments with an Au anode demonstrated the feasibility of such a reactor in preferentially producing ethylene from ethane. Additional work is being done in synthesizing and testing Ti-based catalysts for selective ethylene production via this method.
