Structural Factors Controlling the Electronic Structure of Active Sites in Solid Catalyst with Ionic Liquid Layer (SCILL)

Well-defined site-isolated Ir(CO)₂ complexes were prepared on γ-Al₂O₃ and coated with various ILs. Variations in the electronic structure of iridium sites were probed by the FT-IR strecthing vibrations of carbonyl ligands. In the light of these measurements, structural factors controlling the performance of IL-coated molecular metal catalysts are elucidated.
