Flame spray pyrolysis and hydrothermal synthesis were used to prepare α-Bi2Mo3O12, β-Bi2Mo2O9 and γ-Bi2MoO6. Strikingly, FSP allowed preparing β-Bi2Mo2O9 at high surface area which had a high catalytic performance in the selective oxidation of propylene to acrolein.
