P-Tu-B-165 Characterization of Acidity in ZrO2/SiO2 Catalyst: An Experimental and Theoretical Study

A combined experimental and DFT study was carried out to investigate the acidity of a t-ZrO2/SiO2 mixed oxide. We were able to associate highly acidic sites (>120 kJ/mol) to oxygen vacancies in t-ZrO2 and the decrease in adsorption energy is due to lateral NH3-NH3 interactions rather than sites depletion.
