A combined experimental and DFT study was carried out to investigate the acidity of a t-ZrO₂/SiO₂ mixed oxide. We were able to associate highly acidic sites (>120 kJ/mol) to oxygen vacancies in t-ZrO₂ and the decrease in adsorption energy is due to lateral NH₃-NH₃ interactions rather than sites depletion.
