Au25 Clusters As a Precursor for the Synthesis of Supported Au-Pd Nanoparticle Catalysts

The present study shows the use of Au₂₅(SC₈H₉)₁₈^- clusters as a precursor for the synthesis of Au-Pd bimetallic clusters with catalytically active, segregated atomic Pd sites on the surface. Here, the loading of Pd atoms on Au-cluster surface can be controlled by adding stoichiometric amounts of Pd²⁺ salt.
