We developed a new protocol to synthesize bimetallic nanoparticles with narrow particle size and composition. Different bimetallic systems, consisting of a highly reducible metal and an oxophilic promoter, were studied. This approach allowed us to elucidate the nature of the active sites involved in the selective hydrogenolysis of cyclic ethers.
