A well-define tetrairidium catalyst was synthesized utilizing calix[4]arene phosphine ligands that  stabilize the complex.  The cluster has been adsorbed onto γ-Al2O3 and SiO2, calcined at 723K, to observe fundamental catalytic consequence of the support for decarbonylation.  The catalyst begins to decabonylate at 343K and 313K for γ-Al2O3 and SiO2, respectively.
