A highly selective and stable ZnxZryOz catalyst for ethanol to isobutene conversion has been designed.  The reaction pathway studied using isotope labeling and characterization work to elucidate acidic site roles will be presented.  This study provides insight for rational design of acid-base catalysts for conversion of bio-derived feedstocks to chemicals.
