Perovskite based Ni catalysts with progressive partial substitution of A site metal ion, i.e substitution of La for Ce, were studied in the hydrogenation of xylose to xylitol reaction. Perovskite structure benefits Ni dispersion and stability of catalysts, preventing Ni loss during aqueous reaction and pyrophoric reaction in air.
