The work was focused on the study of alternative hydrodeoxygenation catalysts for upgrading pyrolysis oils. Nickel-based catalysts were tested with a bio-oil in mild hydrotreatment conditions: the products and the spent catalysts were analyzed, showing that NiCu/Al₂O₃ represents a promising alternative to the usual systems.
