Liquid transportation fuels from 2-hexanol, a model molecule of the primary conversion of sugars, are obtained on Cu-Mg-Al(Ce) catalysts. Yields to branched C9-C24 compounds of up to 91% at 573K and 101.3 kPa. Products are mainly C9-C15 oxygenates and hydrocarbons with an overall O:C as low as 0.024
