Abundant glycerol obtained as by-product of bio-diesel production provides low-cost feedstock, which can yield acrylic acid. This conversion can be efficiently achieved by a one-step process. This work reports on Mo₃VO_x/H₄SiW₁₂O₄₀/Al₂O₃ bi-functional catalysts, aiming to elucidate the nature of the active sites as well as the reaction mechanism.
