Dimerization of DME-homologated isoalkenes to transportation-range hydrocarbons was studied experimentally under stirred-batch conditions over an ion-exchange acid resin. The effect of temperature, solvent-type, reaction duration and olefin-structure on the conversion, selectivity and kinetics of triptene dimerization was investigated. The role of olefin branching and chain length was also examined.
