Nano structured CuO/CeO2 supports (spheres, rods and cubes) were prepared and studied for the Water-gas shift reaction. Operando X-ray methods and electron microscopy were able to probe the structure-function influence on WGS activity, selectivity and stability. Cu-CeOx (nanospheres) was the optimum configuration with the key ingredients necessary for the WGS.
