Nonstoichiometric CoO1-x is formed through restructuring Co3O4 under reaction conditions. This new phase is highly active in reduction of nitric oxide with carbon monoxide with an activity similar to Rh-based catalysts. It remains a selectivity of 100% to the production of N2 in the temperature regime of 250oC-500oC.
