Modular Synthesis of Metal Oxide Catalysts

We present a new hydrothermal approach to complex metal oxides. The method involves stepwise addition of precursor molecules guided by in situ spectroscopy. Secondary building units are assembled successively to give the target structure. The method offers a great potential in directing the properties of oxide catalysts towards desired functionalities.
