Biocatalytic Strategy for Conversion of Bio-Glycerol to Value-Added Products

We report the biocatalytic synthesis of a value-added product (glycerol carbonate, GlyC) starting from bio-glycerol as main by-product of biodiesel process applied for different vegetal oils. Bio-synthesis of GlyC has been develped based on the reaction of bio-glycerol with DMC in excess catalyzed by a lipase-linked on magnetic particles bicatalyst.
