Selective Synthesis of p-Ethylphenol by Gas Phase Ethylation

In this work we studied the catalytic performance in the gas phase ethylation of phenol of two zeolites with particular porous structures (HZSM5 and HMCM22). HMCM22 formed p-ethylphenol as a major product, at  523 K ethanol/phenol molar ratio of 1, p-EP yield of 40% was achieved  with selectivity of 60%.
