P-Tu-Wil-9 Selective Synthesis of Indene by Liquid-Phase Dehydration of 1-Indanol

The liquid-phase dehydration of 1-indanol over acid solids was successfully achieved obtaining selectively valuable indene. Olefin yields higher than 90% were obtained with HMOR and HZSM5 zeolites. These molecular sieves meet the appropriate acid properties and microporous structure that avoid heavy product formation, in contrast with mesoporous SiO2-Al2O3.
