Catalytic wet air oxidation appears as an alternative to biological treatments for effluents with high ammonia concentration. The control of the oxidizing strength of a Pt/TiO2 (metal content and oxygen partial pressure) was shown to have a key impact in the selective oxidation of ammonia to molecular nitrogen.
