Nickel-based reforming catalysts were doped with small amounts of Rh, Ru, Pt or Ir, leading to superior Ni sintering resistance in the catalysts and hence to an increase in the catalyst activity and lifetime. The mechanism for alloy formation have been investigatd by combination of EXAFS, XRPD, TEM, STEM-EDS mapping and DFT calculations.
