The impact of fuel-borne Na, K, and Ca on lean emissions control systems was characterized.  Na and K were shown to displace the ion-exchanged Cu in the zeolite-based SCR, such that a layer of CuO oxide was visible on the surface.  Ca did not show a major impact.
