A model was developed to describe glycerol hydrogenolysis to propanediol using formic acid as the hydrogen source in a semi-continuous system assuming Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetics. It was observed that both glycerol and propanediol compete to adsorb on the acid sites of the support. The model allowed process optimization analysis.
