Steam reforming of ethanol over Ni-based catalysts was investigated for measures which could minimize carbon deposition (CDep). It was shown that K2SO4, K, CeO2, and ZrO2 all increased conversion and decreased CDep. Addition of K2SO4 however decreased the reforming activity slightly, which increased hydrocarbon yields.
