P-Tu-BRC-105 Conversion of Diols by Dehydrogenation and Dehydration Reactions on Cu/SiO2 Catalysts

Biomass-derived 1,3-diols can be transformed by dehydrogenation and dehydration reactions into valuable building blocks for organic synthesis.  Both reactions occur at mild conditions on the Cu0 sites of Cu/SiO2 catalysts. The product distribution can be controlled by properly choosing Cu loading and reactor contact time.
