MoS2/K2CO3 is supported on MgAl mixed metal oxides (MMO) to produce higher alcohols from syngas.  Catalysts with high MMO:Mo ratios are uncharacteristically selective for higher alcohols at moderate alkali loadings. These effects are not be attributed reactions on MMO alone but rather to specific reaction on Mo/K or Mo/K/MMO interfacial domains.
