Long-Chain 1-Alcohols from Synthesis Gas

We report on the selective production of C₈-C₁₄ straight chain alcohols/alkenes from synthesis gas.  A Co₁Cu₁Mn₁ catalyst prepared via oxalate co-precipitation is found to produce 1-alcohols/1-alkenes with about 65 % selectivity at a CO conversion of 18% and an optimized chain lengthening probability of 0.68.
