In this work, the interaction between α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and chiral modifier on Pd catalyst is studied. Also, in-situ attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) is applied to investigate the C=C hydrogenation at the catalyst surface, with the aim of understanding the mechanism that governs the reaction.
