Luminescence Spectroscopy Assesses the Structure of the Reaction Medium Neighboring a Catalytic Site

We have probed the structure and composition near the catalytic sites immersed in a multicomponent reaction medium using the solvatochromism of a chromophore. Solvatochromism reflects the differential interaction with the surrounding, polarizable medium of the chromophore in its ground state and in an electronically excited state.
