O-Th-Seg-18 Acid Strength and van der Waals Contributions to Catalysis on Solid Brønsted Acids

Methanol dehydration rate and equilibrium constants are interpreted mechanistically with the aid of infrared spectroscopy and density functional theory on solid Brønsted acids of varying composition and structure. Their values are used to elucidate the contributions of acid strength and dispersive interactions to transition state and reactive intermediate stabilities.
