Ceria Catalyzed Ketonization of Biomass-derived Organic Acids

An attractive reaction for the conversion organic acids from biomass thermochemical deconstruction is ketonization. There is significant debate about the reaction system.  Discussed will be results for ceria-catalyzed ketonization studies using the model bio-oil compound acetic acid in the condensed and vapor phase for providing insights into the reaction mechanism.
