I report herein the development of single-site Sn catalysts that are structurally analagous to Sn-Beta, and are highly tunable. These catalysts show activity in converting glucose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). A glucose isomerization to fructose by Sn, followed by fructose dehydration to HMF by H+ mechanism is proposed.
