Methane oxidation has been attempted using novel, unconventional and inexpensive eggshell catalysts. Catalysts synthesized by impregnating transition metal oxides on the eggshells were successful to activate C-H bond in methane and fecilitate selective oxidation to form different spectrum of products including hydrogen, aldehydes (Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde) and ketones (acetone & octanone).
