Inexpensive Fe-EDTA complexes give ready access to a number of coordination complexes, which are immobilized and subsequently transformed into supported iron oxide catalysts. Depending on the associated countercation, these catalysts are single-site catalysts for low temperature selective alkane oxidation to alcohols and ketones.
