Supporting the Ba-storage phase on ceria rather than alumina significantly destabilizes the sulfates and nitrates on NOx storage reduction catalysts.  This can be seen through both DRIFTS and temperature programmed reduction experimentation.  The results show that the Barium bound sulfur is released at temperatures 100°C less when ceria is used.
