The different acidic (number, strength, type of acid sites) and porous (pore size, surface area) characteristics of the various zeolitic and mesoporous aluminosilicate catalysts induce different reaction mechanisms via which product yields and composition of bio-oil in the upgrading of biomass flash pyrolysis vapours are affected.
