Understanding the role of rhodium in the pyrochlore structure enables insights into how to maintain ATR catalyst performance.  We discuss how Rh is involved in surface reactions and what role the pyrochlore structure has in promoting Rh in the proposed surface reaction scheme involving both metallic and partially oxidized Rh.
