We studied mixed rare earth oxides, sometimes with added transition metal oxides, for H2S adsorption from, and the reactions of tars in gasifier effluents. The work was performed at high temperature in order to improve the thermodynamic efficiency of syngas cleaning/conditioning.  Ce/La/MnOx materials are optimal for both applications.
