In the conversion of anisole catalyzed by Pt/Al2O3 and by HY-zeolite, methyl-group transfers are kinetically significant reactions, and when the catalyst was Pt/Al2O3 used in the presence of H2, hydrogenation and C–O bond-breaking reactions are also kinetically significant. Data such as these provide a starting point for predicting bio-oil conversions.
