The deposition of Cu on TiC(001) and CeOx/TiO2(110) surfaces generates catalysts for the CO2 → CH3OH conversion which are highly active and much more efficient than model Cu/ZnO(000ī) catalysts. This is a consequence of the formation of Cu-carbide and Cu-oxide interfaces which bind well the CO2molecule.
