Pt-Wox/ZrO2 Catalysts for the Selective Hydrogenolysis of Glycerol to 1,3-Propanediol

1,3-PD is produced with 59% selectivity at 39% glycerol conversion under H₂ 800 psi after 11 h of reaction at 170°C over the Pt-WOx/ZrO₂ system with 30% wt of W. We consider this significant, because it validates that 1,3-PDO can be produced without employing organic phase, shorter reaction times.
