A fludizable Ni/La2O3-γAl2O3 catalyst for steam gasification of biomass is developed by tuning metal-support interaction. This catalyst remains stable under many cycles of gasification and performs close to the thermodynamic equilibrium, yielding a high-quality synthesis gas (H2/CO ratio > 2.0). The catalyst structure and reactivity/stability relationship is also established.
