P-Tu-B-40 Acid Sites in Modified Alumina and Their Catalytic Performance for Dehydration of Fructose to Selective Production of Hydroxymethylfural

The alumina catalysts (commercial and synthetic) without modification showed low conversion and no selectivity, the modified alumina catalysts showed the best performance. Modified synthetic alumina presented the best catalytic performance with 72 % fructose conversion and 52 % HMF selectivity.
